ABSTRACT

In the development of new thermoplastic elastomer products, it is well known that the ‘subject matter expert’ (SME) must not only stay abreast of new materials, methods, and processes, but must rely on “advanced techniques” for “multi-factor” design of experiments, to make the product. However, evidence demonstrates that advanced techniques require a lot of knowledge, and time to use; and that tweaking the formula one factor at a time remains common practice. While the objective is to resolve multivariate and multi-target problems, the existing tools require a large number of runs only to predict the behavior of one target at a time. New software using the SME knowledge as opposed to his/her mastery of “advanced techniques”, will resolve multivariate and multi-target problems simultaneously with a minimal number of runs. We will demonstrate thru use case how this methodology and web-based application will assist SME in attaining desired specifications faster, increase quality, and discover new opportunities.
